What better way to celebrate “Liter-ary Month” than visiting a library? Following the disastrous fire in Mati/Neos Voutzas in 2018, a group of volunteers recognized the need to rebuild the community. They decided to create a library with a dual purpose, not only a place from where books could be borrowed but also a local community center.This particular library resonates with WIC as the club was involved from its inception. Several will re- member long-time member Marie Blanche Sarika. She bequeathed her private collection of 500 books from the late 19th and early 20th century to us and we, in turn, donated them to the library which is named for her.
Dr. Niki Tsironi will give a pre- sentation on “The Book As Text And Object” and Ms. Veronique Magnes will explain the craft of book binding, the conservation and preservation of books.
If tempted to empty your bookcases, the library would appreciate children’s books in Greek, English and French and books on art and psychology.
